The crew with the best hand will get a $1,000 reward, but every hand wins funds for the annual Lake St. John Flotilla fireworks show, buoys and supports the Concordia PAWS animal shelter, said poker run organizer Melissa Brown.

'That's the busiest day on the lake — the flotilla,' Brown said. '… The poker run is a great time to get out on the water with your friends, your family, your pet and just have a good time. … It's all for a good cause.'

The poker run starts at noon Saturday on Lake St. John, Brown said, and registration starts Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Spokane Resort and costs $25 per hand.

Participants also have the option to purchase an additional wild card for $25 to increase their chances of winning, Brown said.

The first-place winner will receive $1,000, second-place $500, third-place $300, fourth-place $200 and fifth-place $100.
